Drisyam : Not just a ‘Mohanlal’ Film !

It will be agreed by all that Drisyam indeed was a superhit. The movie became successful not because of the presence of Mohanlal in the lead role. But it is a fact that Mohanlal did a great job in this movie and played a leading role in its success.
In this move the character played by Mohanlal, Georgekutty is an orphan, a school dropout in 11th standard who made his life successful by his own will power and dedication to what all things he do.
The Director Jeethu Joseph has taken utmost care to make the character as truthful and real to the audience. Georgekutty runs a cable TV service business in a village area. His wife is Rani, played by Meena and they have two young pretty daughters. Gorgekutty is a miserly character and doesn't spend much. But he has love and care for his family. He is however obsessed to watching films and watch as much films as he can.

The movie goes on a twist as the young teenager daughter of Georgekutty is photographed in bathroom attire by her teenager friend while at a college camp. The boy Varun (Roshan Basheer), happens to be the son of the affluent IG of Police. The boy comes to Georgekutty’s home when he was not there and threatens the mother and the girl showing the photographs. He want them to do sex with him. In the subsequent incident, the boy gets killed accidentally by the mom and her daughter. Georgekutty comes to know about the entire episode next morning.

The entire movie then revolves around the strategic plans by Georgekutty to protect his family’s integrity and to overcome prosecution on charges of homicide.

The movie is unique in its way of presentation and the perfection of the script. It can be a thriller and at the same time a family entertainer. The message is very clear and the movie got extreme applause from all sects of audience. Truly this movie can be a beginning of a new renaissance of the Malayalam Movie Industry.
